Our Story
Our Story
It began with CROP
It began with CROP
When our founding members found out they were going to be released, it was supposed to be one of the greatest days of their lives. They had served their time, they had done the work, and now they were finally able to put it all behind them. Instead, what they felt at that moment was intense fear. Dread. Hopelessness.
Everything changed when they heard about CROP (Creating Restorative Opportunities and Programs). CROP was started by four men while serving life terms in prison. When they came back into the community, they realized how broken and disjointed reentry was. They raised 30 million dollars from the state to directly provide all the services they thought a person would need.
CROP provides holistic, wraparound reentry services tailored around a workforce development program that aims to bring reentrants into the tech industry. CROP invited us to hope again. They supported us through that incredibly difficult first year of reintegration, with dignity.
Two of our founding members are graduates of CROP. The name Dignifi derives from CROP’s own value of bringing dignity to reentry. Dignifi is proud to partner with CROP in providing the data for a systems level change: To End Recidivism With Data.
